Majestic Wine Wins ‘High Street Chain of the Year’ Award
Adding to the strong momentum they’ve gained this year, Majestic Wine won the coveted ‘High Street Chain of the Year’ award during the recent International Wine Challenge (IWC) competition.
The largest specialist wine retailer in the United Kingdom last received the award in 2013.
But that wasn’t the only award Majestic Wine took home that night.
‘Best Value’ Wines
Apart from being named the ‘High Street Chain’, Majestic Wines also won the ‘best value red between £7-£12’ award for their Definition Rioja Reserva. It has soft flavours of vanilla, blackcurrant, and toasted cedar and pairs quite nicely with assorted cheeses and grilled lamb.
The company also received the ‘great value champion white wine’ award for its exclusive Blind River Sauvignon Blanc from Marlborough, New Zealand. The said wine offers aromas of citrus and tropical fruit, which leads to intense flavours of melon and apple. It’s quite enjoyable with fresh seafood, feta cheese, or dressed mediterranean salads.
More Majestic Things to Offer
Of course, Majestic Wine has a lot more to offer to consumers besides the two listed above. That’s why we’ve compiled a short wine list from that help showcase why they deserved winning the award this year.
The Astronomer Shiraz 2014, De Bortoli Australia
Priced at £6.99/£5.99, this tasteful red offers an enticing blend of white pepper, blackcurrant, and bramble. It’s the kind of wine that you can pair with a hamburger, or grilled sausages.
Coney Pizzicato Pinot Noir 2014, Martinborough, New Zealand
This Pinot Noir combines ripe cherry, and smoky savoury overtones with toasty, spicy, complex flavours. It’s priced at £15.99/£13.99, and is an ideal match for pasta and venison.
Casal de Ventozela Alvarinho 2015, Portugal
This wine is exceptionally fresh with flavours of apple and citrus. Try pairing this with fresh seafood, as well as chili flavored dishes. It’s priced at £9.99, or £8.99.
Peter & Ulrich Dry Riesling 2015, Mosel, Germany
This elegant wine is crisp with notes of peach, ripe apple, and apricot. It’s got a balance with refreshing acidity and rich fruit flavors. It matches really well with lightly spiced meat dishes and salads. Try it out for £11.99, or £9.99.
Masi Amarone Classico Costasera 2011, Italy
With aromas of baked plum, ripe berry, and crushed violet pervading this full-bodied red wine, it becomes perfect as an after-dinner beverage. Try it with grilled meat and hard cheeses. This wine is available for £32/£28.
We hope these wines will provide a warm, tasteful addition to your evening meals.
